Children 3 to 5 years are welcome! Children who turn 2.5  by September 1st may also be able to register if they are potty trained and more on the independent side! If you are not sure if your child is ready, schedule a tour and we can work together to decide. :)

School Year

Our school year begins with meet and greet night in August and ends with a big graduation in May (10 months). We offer an 8-week summer camp in June and July. STEAM Preschool follows the Ysleta ISD school calendar for vacation days and holidays.

Registration Fee

There is a $60 non-refundable registration/application fee to secure your child's spot at STEAM Preschool each year. The family fee is $100 for those enrolling more than one child.  We offer a $10 discounts for military, law enforcement, and educators.

Class Sizes

With a maximum of 12 children per class, STEAM Preschool has the smallest class sizes in El Paso. Our students also get focused attention and  support during center time where groups of 3-4 children or less get teacher led instruction in their small groups.

When should I call to register my child?

When should I call to register? It’s never too early to call, so call as soon as you even think about registering, because our classes fill up ridiculously fast!

Does my child have to be potty trained?

Does my child have to be potty trained? Yes. A child may not be registered if they require a diaper. If you have any questions about whether or not your child is ready, feel free to give us a call.  We even have a “How To Potty Train” your child handout we can give you. It’s helped many moms quickly potty train their kids.  We’re here to help!

What is your teaching philosophy?

What is your teaching philosophy? At STEAM we follow a “whole child” philosophy where we work with you to improve your child’s Social, Emotional, Cognitive, Language, and Physical skills. Our curriculum is based on the NAEYC guidelines and features a balance of teacher-directed and child-initiated hands-on activities to accomplish these goals. We also incorporate Creative Curriculum and Handwriting Without Tears Curriculum. Your child will learn to socialize, make friends, develop social and emotional skills, and be more than ready for Kindergarten!  To learn even more, please click here.

Are there additional fees throughout the year?

Are there additional fees throughout the year? No!  Your registration fee covers all your child’s supplies and reserves a spot in our program.  Your child won’t pay anything to attend our field trips and activities. Your family can come for free too! Your child will also receive at no extra cost: a STEAM Kids shirt to wear on Spirit Day and a graduation portfolio! HOW TO ENROLL

Every day is different, but please enjoy looking over our schedule below to get a general idea of all the fun and learning that happens each preschool day.

  • 15 min. – Welcome, Table Time
We are so excited for everyone to arrive!  We take off our backpacks and get right to working on fine motor skills such as beading, manipulatives, cutting, gluing, writing our names, playdoh, etc.

  • 25 min. – Opening Circle Time
We gather together at the circle rug to work on our cognitive, social, language, and gross motor skills with our sharing time, calendar, weather, and job helpers. We sing and move our bodies to get our wiggles out before school time with music & movement.

  • 60 min. – Discovery Center Time
We discuss/review the current theme and new or unfamiliar centers around the room. Discovery is often known as “Free Play” or “Play Time.” Our many centers include Dramatic Play, Sensory, Art, Building, Literacy, Writing, Engineering, and Science.  We work on social, emotional, and language skills such as using our words, taking turns, being patient, negotiating conflicts, etc.  In addition, our teacher brings over small groups or works 1-on-1 with building cognitive skills (colors, shapes, letters, sounds, numbers, counting, etc.) based on each child’s level.

  • 25 min. – Recess
Our playground areas include play structures, swings, slides, a sand table, balls, a garden, and more!  You’ll think we’re just playing, but we’re actually working on our social, emotional, language, and gross motor skills as we run, jump, climb, swing, and create games.

  • 15 min. – Snack Time
We love working on our cognitive, social, language, and fine motor skills as we pour, measure, sort, count, chat, and enjoy eating together.

  • 25 min. – Closing Circle
We head back to the circle rug to work on our cognitive skills with story time and Handwriting Without Tears curriculum, social and language skills with discussing what we’ve learned, and emotional skills with getting ready to go home.
